Inspiration

Hackathons often begin with one of the biggest challenges: finding the right idea. Many great teams lose valuable time just brainstorming instead of building. We wanted to solve this by creating an AI-powered app idea generator that instantly produces unique, innovative, and hackathon-ready blueprints. Our inspiration came from watching hackathon participants struggle to pick a problem statement and differentiate their projects from others.

What it does

The Hackathon App Idea Generator creates: Catchy app names and elevator pitches. Detailed problem statements and target audiences. Core + advanced features (AI, AR/VR, Blockchain, IoT). Hackathon-friendly tech stacks for rapid prototyping. Demo journeys to impress judges. Monetization models, scalability roadmaps, and future visions. Ready-to-use pitch pointers for presenting in front of judges.

How we built it

AI-powered generation: Leveraged PartyRock (Anthropic’s Claude + LLM tech) for structured app idea generation. Prompt engineering: Crafted an optimized mega-prompt to ensure detailed, feature-rich, hackathon-focused outputs. Iteration & testing: Refined outputs through multiple rounds until results felt like ready-to-pitch startup plans. Markdown formatting: Ensured results are structured, readable, and easy to export for hackathon submissions.

Challenges we ran into

Designing a prompt powerful enough to produce structured, non-generic results. Balancing hackathon feasibility (24–48 hrs) with futuristic innovation. Making the outputs concise yet detailed, so teams don’t waste time filtering irrelevant information. Ensuring ideas stand out and aren’t repetitive with existing apps.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a working idea-generation engine that produces hackathon-ready blueprints. Created a tool that can help students, startups, and innovation labs beyond hackathons. Designed a process where judges can immediately visualize a demo journey from the generated ideas. Reduced idea brainstorming time from hours to minutes.

What we learned

The power of structured prompts in controlling AI outputs. How LLMs can be adapted for creativity + practicality together. Importance of balancing technical feasibility with visionary features. That clear formatting and storytelling are just as important as the idea itself in hackathons.

What's next for Hackathon App Idea Generator

Adding a domain filter (AI, healthtech, fintech, edtech, sustainability, etc.). Integrating a collaboration mode so teammates can refine ideas together. Exporting directly to pitch decks or one-pagers. Expanding into a startup ideation platform with business model generation. Potential to evolve into a Hackathon Co-Pilot that not only generates ideas but also helps code, design, and pitch.
