Inspiration
As any club treasurer knows, managing CIO (Contracted Independent Organization) finances suck. People don't pay their dues, and how much funding a club needs is often unclear. With a little software, this can change.
What it does
Club Finance Tool (CFT) consolidates all financial tracking for CIOs. It allows club members to pay dues, and club treasurers to request dues, track finances and request funds. Institutional users can then grant funds to CIOs and track their spending.
How we built it
CFT runs on Django for the backend with a MySQL database and Bootstrap frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Managing the database and relations between users and clubs proved challenging but manageable with a bit of elbow grease.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The website is elegantly styled, making it a much more attractive option for managing CIO finances than current solutions.
What we learned
We learned a lot about using Django backend and how to effectively build a database.
What's next for Club Finance Tool
Current ideas for the future include creating an admin dashboard to better track finances, adding payment directly in the website, and deploying CFT for production use at UVa.
