Cluance
Description
This project provides a set of communication guidelines aimed at helping individuals—especially younger audiences—navigate different social and professional contexts more effectively. The guidelines leverage familiar, youth-oriented language and phrases to make the advice accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday interactions.
Inspiration
We were inspired by the way younger audiences communicate today, especially through modern slang and colloquial expressions. We realized that traditional communication guidelines often feel out of touch with the way people interact online. To bridge this gap, we aimed to use relatable, contemporary language that resonates with today’s youth. By incorporating popular slang and familiar terms, we wanted to create a platform that feels more approachable and engaging, while still promoting respectful communication. Our goal was to make these guidelines not only relevant but also fun and easy to understand for young people, without compromising on the importance of inclusivity and cultural sensitivity.
How we built it
Our website is mostly composed of React, JSX, JavaScript (ES6+), CSS (Tailwind CSS), React Router
Challenges we ran into
We faced several challenges during the project, including difficulties integrating React Router with our app’s dynamic content. Ensuring cross-browser compatibility for some of our styling choices was also a challenge. Additionally, time management became an issue as we tried to balance feature development with thorough testing. GIT was also frustrating at times as there were many merging conflicts which took up some of our time. Since 4 out of 5 group members were working on a project of this scale for the first time, and with minimal frontend experience, there was a learning curve in mastering the required technologies.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of successfully implementing a smooth navigation system with React Router and designing a clean, responsive UI using TailwindCSS. Our app provides a seamless user experience, all completed within 24 hours! We worked really well together, overcoming challenges and learning a lot in the process. Achieving this in such a short timeframe was a major accomplishment for our team.
What we learned
We learned how to better manage our development timeline and troubleshoot issues with front-end routing, ensuring smoother navigation throughout our app. We also improved our collaboration tools, which enhanced communication within the team. Most of us gained hands-on experience integrating TailwindCSS into a React project, which was a first for many. Additionally, we became more adept at troubleshooting Git, solving merge conflicts, and handling version control issues. Above all, we learned the importance of perseverance—staying up into the night to push through challenges and complete our project.
What's next for Cluance
Next, we plan to expand Cluance’s functionality by integrating user authentication, allowing personalized experiences, and adding more interactive content. We also aim to optimize performance and expand our features to different platforms.
