Inspiration
As anime fans and students ourselves, we noticed how traditional math learning can feel repetitive and disengaging. Inspired by Black Clover, we wanted to merge the thrill of spellcasting with the power of mastering math. What if solving equations could feel like unlocking magic? Thus, Clover Kingdom was born—a fun, immersive way to make math both exciting and effective.
What it does
Clover Kingdom is a gamified math learning app where students battle enemies using magical attacks—unleashed only when they solve math questions correctly. With four key categories—geometry, arithmetic, algebra, and fractions—players sharpen their skills while progressing through levels, unlocking spells, and working toward becoming the Wizard King!
How we built it
We used basic HTML,CSS,JS and sprite generator to design and develop the app. The math questions were categorized and integrated with a battle system that dynamically responds to user input. Animations and game logic were inspired by RPG mechanics, while the UI captures the fantasy feel of the Clover Kingdom.
Challenges we ran into
- Designing math questions that were both challenging and age-appropriate
- Balancing the game mechanics to keep users engaged without making it too easy or hard
- Integrating dynamic feedback and visual effects for spells without compromising performance
- Creating a smooth user experience across devices
- Creating multi player web sockets
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Developed a unique, anime-themed educational game from scratch
- Created a full question bank across 4 core math topics
- Made learning fun and interactive for users who usually shy away from math
- Received positive feedback from early testers who said it made math "cool"
- Provided a place to store history of learning
- Provided a learning arena before the actual battle
What we learned
- How to blend game design with educational content effectively
- The importance of user feedback in balancing gameplay and learning outcomes
- That gamification, when done right, truly increases engagement and retention
- Technical skills in animation, UI/UX, and math content structuring
What's next for Clover Kingdom
- Add more question categories like word problems and data interpretation
- Implement multiplayer duels and leaderboard rankings
- Introduce personalized difficulty based on user performance
- Launch the app on major platforms and integrate with classroom learning tools
- Add kingdom maps with different kingdoms for different subjects
