Inspiration

I'm a software developer who likes to make things easy for people to understand. I've been playing with Codex for a while now and its so fun. You can do so much ! I decided to combine my skills in AWS, and sort of use this as a creative outlet. I've always been a bit of a teacher as well and I find joy when it clicks for other people. I've been working on some asset generation with Codex and the Phaser gaming library and building a cloud nautical civilization trying to render AWS environments. Then I heard about the competition and decided to polish and submit last minute. I hope to refine cloudscape into an educational tool to get young people excited about technology in an inspiring way :D.

What it does

Renders an AWS project from infrastructure as code using a custom asset library and guides the user through the project. It comes with 5 pre-baked little worlds to explore, learn, and even design.

How we built it

With React and Phaser for an animated isometric world. Local terraform parser reads project files and constructs the architecture graph and maps resources to visuals ! It integrates with your local Codex CLI to give Nim a voice and smarts to guide you on your cloud journey.

Challenges we ran into

Cohesion hahaha! Generating 1 asset is easy but getting the entire civilization to look like it was made by the same artist was hard XD. Transperant backgrounds and rotating asssets N/S/E/W as a few examples.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making something that people think is complicated into something that is easy and consumable in a visually attractive and engaging way !

What we learned

That image generation works best as a production pipeline. I had to build another project called Storyboard to get it to work consistently rather than prompting by hand.

What's next for Cloudscape

It would be cool to add live operational signals, cost modeling, richer collaborative architecture design, and visual failure modes.
