CloudCampus

Inspiration

First hand experience in a hispanic serving institution (HSI) where we currently attend, my teammates and I noticed that many students don't have resources, guidance, or opportunities needed to succeed in higher education.

What it does

CloudCampus is a one stop resource web-app that not only provides students with information related to their field of study, but also helps students create personalized roadmaps where our Ai-driven guidance or our Ai-Coach tailors to each students journey. It also allows you to search for any types of opportunities, that being scholarships, internships, programs, etc, all inside our web-app. From being able to read the stories of other students who went through the same struggles as you, to using the discussion hub to speak on topics related to your interests, to also using the wellness Toolkit feature to motivate you to keep up with your mental health. CloudCampus is about building a strong community for the students who don't feel supported, and guiding the next generation.

How we built it

Starting with ai-studio, My team was able to build the initial framework for how we wanted our web-app to function. From there, each member took the time to add features, optimize the aesthetic, and resolve many issues in order to make CloudCampus an easy and accessible ai-interface to use.

Challenges we ran into

My team and I showed up with idea what we wanted to do. We understood that this was an AI Hackathon where AI had to play a big role in our project. After our initial talks we knew that many other teams had lots of more experience and more knowledge of how to use Ai in ways we didn't even know were possible. We agreed that by staying grounded and building something that did explore the use of Ai while still adhering to our view on education, we knew we had our plan.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud of creating CloudCampus. What started with just and idea of something to submit for this competition, it became something much more impactful to us. We understand the struggle especially when trying to break into Computer Science from where we come from and our background. CloudCampus has now become more than just something to submit for this competition. It's a Web-app my team and I want to keep building on and perfect for the students of any communities that feel lost in their educational journey. We are really proud to have been a part of this experience, meeting new people and attending the workshops. We left with so much more understanding of the capabilities of Ai.

What we learned

My teammates and I learned how to structure a project, implement Ai models, and Ai assistance. We believe that these new skills we have acquired will help us keep up with the new Ai models that seem to always be coming out. We are grateful to have been presented with many workshops that provided helpful assistance that paved the way for our framework.

What's next for CloudCampus

We are proud to present our web-app to our peers back home, and really start the ground framework for future members and connect our community. We are really passionate about our hometown Oxnard and know that there are many students there that just need that guidance to understand where to go, what to do, and how to get things done. CloudCampus will guide the students of tomorrow, and not only help our community, but many more.
