Introducing... Cloud Baby!

Hey, Hack the North! We are Emily, Patty, Saba, and Sonya, and we’re excited to show you our hackathon project - Cloud Baby! We all get a little tense while working sometimes and in these moments of stress we could use some words of encouragement and healthy reminders. Cloud Baby is the perfect companion to keep you smiling and paying attention to your wellbeing. It's a desktop friend that keeps you company while giving you new reminders after a duration of time so that you can see other ways to relax and work better. It also really likes to make silly faces, just to make you smile! You can move Cloud Baby around while you work so you can watch your new friend while staying on task.

Methods and Challenges

We built Cloud Baby using Python and Tkinter and made all of our assets. While it was really challenging to work on this project and familiarize ourselves with this Python library, it was a lot of fun and very rewarding to see our little cloud friend float around our screen.

Inspiration

None of us had done something like this before, but after brainstorming and only being able to think of cute game characters, we decided that's exactly what we needed. Games like Animal Crossing are fun and can be really relaxing, but sometimes we need to buckle down on some work and get productive. We thought we'd make a fun character who you can work alongside while being reminded to take care of yourself!

More Info

We hope in the future to add personalizable functionalities such as how often you see a new reminder, the types of reminders you would like to see, and a variety of color options for your cloud baby. With Cloud Baby, let all those worries float away like a cloud! ☁️
