PIXEL PLACE is our nostalgic throwback project where we've recreated the classic Windows game Purble Place with a modern twist. We've kept the charm of the original while refreshing the visuals, enhancing interactivity, and making it web-based for easy access. Our version blends memory skills, pattern recognition, and logic—perfect for both kids and adults seeking a fun cognitive challenge. It's not just a game, it’s a tribute—built with love, code, and a dose of retro magic!
What it does Pixel Place is a modern web-based game inspired from Purble Place, featuring three engaging mini-games that test memory, observation, and logical reasoning. Players can:
a) Match hidden tiles in a memory challenge
b) Customize robot characters based on visual cues
c) Assemble colorful icecreams to match customer orders
Each game offers smooth animations, intuitive UI, and touch/mouse controls—bringing retro gameplay to today's devices.
How we built it:
We developed Pixel Place using:
a) HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for a lightweight, responsive front-end
b) Custom sprite sheets and retro-styled assets to maintain a nostalgic aesthetic
c) Modular JS code for scalable game logic and smooth transitions between mini-games
Challenges we ran into:
a)Recreating game logic from memory since the original source code wasn’t available.
b)Balancing modern responsiveness while retaining the original design feel.
c) Creating intuitive but retro UI that works well.
What's next for pixel place
a)Introduce difficulty levels and progress tracking
b)Expand to more mini-games and custom character skins
c)Polish accessibility features (colorblind modes, keyboard support)
d)Maybe even release it on mobile app stores!
