Cloud9 Racing - High speed drifting mini-game

Introduction
Designed specifically for Cloud9 and JetBrains event booth activations at LCS or VCT finals. Players compete for the fastest lap times on a challenging circuit while mastering drift mechanics, dodging obstacles, and chasing nitro boosts. All in under 3 minutes per session.
The game creates instant competition through a live REST API powered leaderboard that displays real-time rankings on booth screens, driving fans to beat each other's times throughout the event. With intuitive keyboard controls (WASD + Space for drift), anyone can jump in and start racing within seconds.
Core Gameplay Loop
- Start: Player spawns at the starting line with full health (3 hearts)
- Race: Navigate the circuit while: Drifting around corners for style and speed control Collecting nitro pickups for speed boosts Hitting ramps for airtime and momentum bursts Avoiding obstacles (cones, barrels, barriers, pendulums) that drain health
- Finish: Cross the finish line to record lap time after passing through all the checkpoints
- Compete: Times automatically submit to the leaderboard with player names
What Makes It Addictive
- Physics-Based Mastery: The drift system rewards precision, too much drift loses speed, too little and you crash
- Risk-Reward: Taking tighter lines and aggressive nitro usage can shave seconds off times but risks hitting obstacles
- Visual Feedback: Dynamic car colors, particle effects, and camera shake communicate performance states intuitively
