Inspiration
We based our website on the use of journaling as an emotional outlet. Especially within this previous year, we’ve experienced so many sudden changes and challenges that taking care of mental health is of utmost importance. In addition, we recognized that the future is digital, so we decided to make our diary online.
What it does
It’s an online diary where you can sign in, choose a prompt, and start typing out your thoughts. There is also a feature where you can vent for a duration of time and when you click submit or the time runs out, the text will delete itself.
How we built it
We used HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. We also used Qoom as our primary code editor.
Challenges we ran into
It took a long time to create the Sign-In page because we weren’t sure on how to make the login system securely save users’ login information. Also, we ran into a challenge in making the timer run in the Vent page. Luckily, we were able to resolve both issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of our user interface. Our website looks aesthetically pleasing and navigating through the site is an enjoyable experience.
What we learned
Given that this was our first time using Qoom, we had to learn how to navigate the site. WIth Qoom we were able to create a database for our user input on the SIgn-In page, which we never were able to do before.
What's next for your project
In the future, we hope to add an additional database so that users will be able to access their diary entries from a specified date. We also will be adding more resources for a broader range of mental illnesses.
