Inspiration
As students, sleep is an essential part of our lives that we often neglect. After a long day, it is often hard to find ways to start winding down and sleep at the right times.
What it does
The website has three main features: a sleep logger, informative pages, and ways to wind down. The sleep logger logs your sleep and wake-up times to keep you informed of how you're doing sleep-wise. There are wind-down features as well, with the site having a small drawing page as well as a meditation page with a selection of sounds. There is also a sleep cycle calculator and an informational page where you can better be informed about your sleeping choices.
How we built it
We used VSCode and GitHub to collaborate on this project.
Challenges we ran into
There were a lot of issues getting the virtual environment, database, and code to all work together. Also, the bedtime calculator was a logical nightmare with the complex logic and data needed behind it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The bedtime calculator is one of the biggest things that we're proud of. The drawing page was also another big one as we had never used canvas before to do that sort of thing.
What we learned
We learned how sleep cycles worked (as we had to do a lot of research into it). We also learned how to use canvas in javascript as well as how to collaboratively work on a project together.
What's next for Cloud 9
- Finish up the log page (delete logs, etc)
- Set sleep goals
- Make resource page a sidebar
- Add more sounds
- Create a personalized page where you can play a specific sound on any page (logged-in feature)
- Make the drawing page more interactive
- Style everything nicely
