🧵 About CloseT

CloseT — short for “Eco Closet” — is a digital wardrobe tracker that helps you manage what you own and understand what you actually wear.

In a world where fast fashion drives overconsumption, CloseT encourages mindful usage by letting you easily log, organize, and reflect on your wardrobe habits.

💡 Inspiration

The idea began from a personal frustration:

“I noticed I kept wearing the same few pieces every week while most of my clothes stayed untouched.”

I wanted to create something simple yet meaningful — an app that not only organizes outfits but also helps people realize how much they already have. CloseT turns that idea into an accessible and aesthetic wardrobe tracker.

🛠️ How We Built It

CloseT was built as a mobile-first web app using:

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (Vanilla) for layout and logic
  • LocalStorage for saving clothing data directly in the browser
  • Dynamic image preview for adding photos without cropping
  • GitHub Pages for hosting and deployment

Users can upload photos of their clothes, label them by category (tops, bottoms, etc.), and log daily outfits.
The app also tracks wear frequency and highlights rarely worn items, encouraging decluttering or donation.

🧠 What I Learned

  • How to structure and style a complete client-side app
  • Working with localStorage to store user data persistently
  • Managing file uploads and previews dynamically with JavaScript
  • Using Git and SSH for version control and secure deployment

⚙️ Challenges We Faced

  • Making live image previews responsive without cropping or distortion
  • Updating item states across multiple tabs instantly
  • Maintaining a clean, consistent UI flow for mobile users
  • Debugging file uploads and browser storage behavior

🌿 What’s Next

  • Add color and outfit detection for automatic tagging
  • Introduce reminders for items not worn recently
  • Enable cloud sync for multi-device access
  • Build a sharing feature for “swap closets” within communities

💚 Reflection

CloseT started as a small experiment in sustainability and design thinking.
It grew into a tool that helps people appreciate what they already have —
reminding us that sometimes, the most sustainable outfit is the one we already own.
