InspirationCloset Craft was inspired by a simple everyday problem: “I have so many clothes, but nothing to wear.”
We realized the issue wasn’t having fewer clothes, but not organizing and using them smartly. This motivated us to build a digital solution that helps users manage their wardrobe, create outfits easily, and make smarter, more sustainable fashion choices. 👗✨
What it doesCloset Craft is a digital wardrobe management system that helps users organize their clothes and create outfits easily.
It allows users to: Store and categorize clothing items Mix and match outfits Get smart outfit suggestions Track usage for better fashion decisions The goal is to make styling faster, smarter, and more sustainable. 👗✨
How we built itWe built Closet Craft as a web-based application using modern web technologies.
Frontend: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for designing a clean and responsive user interface. Framework: React to create dynamic and interactive components. Backend: Node.js to handle server-side logic and user data. Database: MongoDB to store wardrobe items, categories, and outfit details. We structured the app into modular components, connected the frontend and backend using APIs, and implemented a simple scoring logic to generate smart outfit suggestions.
Challenges we ran intoOutfit Matching Logic: Designing a smart and practical outfit recommendation system was challenging since fashion preferences are subjective.
Database Design: Structuring the database to handle categories, tags, colors, and images efficiently required multiple revisions. UI/UX Design: Creating a clean, modern, and user-friendly interface while keeping it simple took several iterations. Performance Optimization: Ensuring the app runs smoothly even with many wardrobe items required careful optimization.
Accomplishments that we're proud ofSuccessfully building a fully functional digital wardrobe system from scratch.
Implementing a smart outfit suggestion feature instead of just basic storage. Designing a clean and user-friendly interface that makes styling simple. Turning a real-life everyday problem into a practical and impactful solution.
What we learnedHow to break a real-world problem into smaller, manageable technical components.
The importance of clean code and modular design for scalability. How frontend, backend, and database systems work together in a full-stack application. The value of UI/UX design in improving user experience. That solving everyday problems can lead to meaningful and impactful projects.
What's next for Closet craftAI-based recommendations to suggest outfits based on user preferences and past choices.
