Inspiration
CLOCKFALL started from a single visual question:
“What happens after the final hour ends?”
The imagery of a collapsing city shaped like a broken clock inspired the project’s world—
a place where time has fractured, memories drift like debris, and the world begins to rebuild itself from silence.
This film explores the aftermath of a world where the flow of time has collapsed, and what beauty might emerge in that void.
What it does
CLOCKFALL is a 2-minute cinematic concept film that visualizes a world after the end of time.
Using AI-generated imagery and atmospheric storytelling, it guides the viewer through:
- the collapse of time
- the destruction of the city
- the reshaping of reality
- the birth of a new world
It serves as both a visual experiment and a narrative prototype for a larger universe.
How we built it
The film was constructed entirely from AI-generated visuals and custom-crafted concept stills.
Each scene was created using tools like Midjourney, Kling AI, and Runway, then refined with Photoshop and assembled in After Effects.
We designed the sequence in stages:
- Concept Art Creation — Building core images: broken clocks, fallen cities, voids.
- Narrative Sequencing — Arranging scenes into a coherent collapse → rebirth storyline.
- Cinematic Editing — Color, pacing, camera movement, and transitions.
- Narration Development — Writing a poetic script that echoes the world’s emotional tone.
The final result is a fully AI-built cinematic world concept.
Challenges we ran into
- Achieving visual consistency across dozens of AI-generated scenes
- Representing the abstract idea of “broken time” in a clear visual language
- Handling high-detail elements like collapsing skyscrapers, debris, and large environments
- Iterating scenes repeatedly due to AI unpredictability
- Balancing surreal aesthetics with grounded emotional tone
These challenges guided the direction and ultimately strengthened the final concept.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
- Completed a highly cohesive 2-minute cinematic sequence entirely using AI tools
- Developed a compelling worldbuilding foundation for a larger story universe
- Achieved a distinctive visual tone mixing apocalypse, surrealism, and poetic imagery
- Created a narrative voiceover that enhances depth and emotional resonance
- Demonstrated a workflow that merges concept art → AI video → cinematic editing seamlessly
What we learned
- How to turn static images into a fully structured narrative film
- Techniques for maintaining tonal consistency in AI-generated sequences
- The importance of color, lighting, and pacing for cinematic storytelling
- Strengths and limitations of current AI video generation tools
- How iterative refinement can transform rough concepts into polished visuals
CLOCKFALL became an exploration of both storytelling and technique.
What's next for CLOCKFALL
We plan to expand the project into:
- A longer cinematic short set in the CLOCKFALL universe
- Additional worldbuilding art focusing on characters and environments
- Experimental sequences exploring “time collapse” from different perspectives
- A future anthology project combining AI-generated film with traditional VFX
CLOCKFALL is the first step toward a larger visual universe built around time, memory, and collapse.
