Inspiration
We wanted to make a game and we figured a game used for educational purposes would be fun. Space is also a relevant theme for us, so we combined these ideas
What it does
It's a game for children aged 10 - 14, which intends to teach them about banking and smart financial decision through a variety of tasks
How we built it
The game was entirely built in GameMaker, using a variety of sprites and code.
Challenges we ran into
Firstly, the game doesn't run on half our team's laptops (it set off the anti-virus). Secondly, we made it difficult for ourselves by not using the built-in GitHub in GameMaker, rather we used Git Bash, which made it more difficult for our team to push and pull to the repository.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Designing the background after 3 attempts, not giving up despite the plethora of issues, the sprite designs
What we learned
How to use GameMaker from scratch, how to make a tile set, how to fix Git issues
What's next for Clive's Financial Troubles
A sequel, titled Clive's Mortgage Debt
