Inspiration

Many young professionals like me, often struggle mainly with three things in career like figuring out the right path, tailoring resumes according to the job descriptions, and staying productive while learning or working. So, I want to solve all of these at one place, instead of juggling with multiple tools.

What it does

Climbr is an AI-powered career companion that helps early-career professionals:

  1. Plan their career with a personalized skill roadmap and project recommendations.
  2. Apply smarter by generating tailored resumes and cover letters from job postings.
  3. Stay productive with an AI-driven focus timer that learns work patterns and provides personalized nudges.

How we built it

Frontend: HTML+CSS+JavaScript

Backend: FastAPI (Python)

AI/ML: LLMs (GPT / Gemini) for roadmap generation, resume tailoring, and productivity suggestions.

Data: Simple session logs + job descriptions uploaded by users.

Integration: APIs to pass user input → AI prompts → formatted output back to UI.

Challenges we ran into

a. Combining 3 big features into one MVP. b. Making AI output clear and structured (roadmaps, resumes, nudges) instead of messy text. c. Handling resume/job posting input without complex parsing. d. Designing a UI that feels unified, not like 3 separate apps.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Created a seamless user flow: from career goals → to job applications → to productivity support.
  2. Integrated AI prompts that produce real, usable outputs.
  3. Made something that young professionals (including myself!) would actually use. ## What we learned a. How to chain different AI tasks into a single coherent product. b. The importance of simplifying user input/output for hackathon MVPs. c. That productivity tools become much stronger when tied to career outcomes. ## What's next for Climbr Smart integrations: LinkedIn, Indeed, and Google Calendar for real-world workflows. AI interview coach: mock interview questions tailored to job descriptions Mobile-first app: so users can check nudges and applications on the go. Freemium model: free basic version, premium with advanced AI and document export.
