Inspiration
We were inspired by environmental issues and the common belief that an individuals actions have no greater consequence on the world as a whole. We aim to challenge that misconception and prompt people to reevaluate their effect on the planet we live in.
What it does
Humans long to be accepted than to be right. This game will make people question their actions and may re-evaluate their approach to work and their future.
How we built it
We used GODOT for the game development, as well as Procreate for the opening cutscene and Aseprite for some sprite creation. We also have a dedicated HTML file that outlines the overview and plan of the game.
Challenges we ran into
All 3 members of the team have very limited programming knowledge, so programming a game, albeit in a unfamiliar language was very challenging, yet it was one we were passionate to undertake.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to develop our programming abilities and produced various mini-games that symbolised pressing workplace and environmental issues.
What we learned
How to use GODOT to produce a working game environment, consisting of player sprites, HUD etc. We also practiced how to collaborate using Git Version Control.
What's next for Climb The Ladder
We wish to add more facets to the game, such as a way to 'win', by combatting what is standard practice. We aim to do this by expanding our knowledge of GODOT and exploring new elements of it to bring to our game.
