Climatrix AI was born out of necessity. Watching Lagos drown year after year, families displaced, assets lost, governments reacting too late, I realized the problem wasn’t just climate change. It was a data famine. The systems meant to warn us were either nonexistent or not effective enough. I was inspired by the idea that Africa didn’t need a borrowed solution, rather it needed a homegrown one, designed with our uniqueness in mind. What if we could create an infrastructure that didn't just observe the climate, but learned from it, predicted it, and preempted disaster?
What I learned
I learned that deep tech in Africa must be deeply contextual. You can’t import resilience, you have to design for unpredictability. I also learned that intelligence at the edge is the future: relying only on the cloud is a luxury the floodplain can’t afford. Most importantly, I learned that every great climate solution is a systems problem, you’re not just building sensors or models, you’re actually engineering trust, access, and survival.
