INSPIRATION

Every year, thousands of Indian students and professionals relocate abroad — Nagpur to Toronto, Mumbai to London, Delhi to Sydney, Bangalore to Berlin. Nobody warns them that skin built for 70%+ humidity and tropical heat will crack, flake, and redden within days of hitting sub-zero, bone-dry air. Skin diagnostics apps and virtual try-on apps have always lived in separate silos. ClimateSkin asks one question: what if your relocation itinerary could double as a dermatological early-warning system?

WHAT IT DOES

ClimateSkin fuses YouCam Skin AI and YouCam Apparel VTO into one causal journey — climate change → skin impact → garment prescription.

Route Setup — Choose 1 of 4 curated relocation routes; upload a selfie or use a demo portrait.

Baseline Skin Scan — YouCam V2 Skin AI scores Hydration, Texture, Vascular Redness, and Sebum Oiliness (0–100), shown via an interactive HUD scan matrix.

Climate Delta Engine — Computes ΔTemp, ΔHumidity, ΔUV, and Vapor Pressure Deficit, fed into BioDermal-Net v2.4 (R² = 0.942) to forecast Week 4 barrier stress (TEWL, capacitance, thermal shock), with SHAP-inspired explainability and a Neural vs. Classical toggle.

Apparel VTO & Prescriptions — Ranks garments (merino wool, cashmere silk, GORE-TEX) against predicted stress, each with a one-line reason, then renders the outfit on the user's own portrait via YouCam Apparel VTO.

HOW WE BUILT IT

Skin AI and Apparel VTO handled diagnostics and rendering; a custom climate-delta pipeline and BioDermal-Net v2.4 bridged environment to dermatology; a SHAP-inspired attribution layer and dual-mode toggle built trust; a HUD-style frontend unified all four stages into one continuous flow instead of four separate screens.

CHALLENGES WE RAN INTO

Orchestrating two async, task-polling APIs into one seamless flow; making an ML score feel trustworthy rather than a black box; translating dermatology metrics (TEWL, VPD) into real, shoppable garment logic; keeping four architecturally distinct steps feeling like one product.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT WE'RE PROUD OF

Unifying two independent YouCam product lines into a single narrative; hitting R² = 0.942 with explainable, human-readable outputs; building a genuinely preventive Week 4 Forecast instead of a static before/after; shipping a real selfie-in, styled-portrait-out journey across four high-volume relocation routes.

WHAT WE LEARNED

Explainable, comparative AI persuades far more than a single opaque score. Skin health and clothing are really one category — barrier protection. Climate delta data is an underused signal in health/beauty tech. Relocation is emotionally high-stakes, and practical guidance lands harder than generic content.

Expand beyond 4 routes with live geolocation and weather data; add longitudinal re-scans to validate and retrain BioDermal-Net; extend prescriptions into skincare formulations; add marketplace purchase links; send proactive, seasonally-timed climate alerts post-relocation.
