Inspiration
The team and I were going down the list of topics we had available to us to choose from. In total we had discussed three out of the five different categories. Those three categories were Access and Abilities, Education and Outreach, and finally Environment. After much discussion, we decided that ultimately doing a project that could help the environment would be something enjoyable to do.
What it does
What our project does is gather data in an environment. The data that is collected is the humidity, soil moisture, and C02 levels in the atmosphere. We chose this because these factors are the key to the increase of vegetation which in itself an essential part of ecological growth.
How we built it
We were able to proceed with this project by utilizing Grove Moisture sensor, MQ-2 gas sensor, and Humidity sensor. We also incorporated a security feature which helps prevent unauthorized tampering with the acquired data. This will ensure only authorized personnel including park rangers, and or geologist have access to the data.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we had were some programming issues. Primarily with just getting familiarized with the three sensors we used being that we haven't used before, but the main challenge was the fatigue. Trying to fight the fatigue and continue to be functional was very hard.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The main thing we are proud of is what we were able to achieve the level of progress we made and our teamwork. Despite the fatigue continuing to creep up on us we were still able to be productive by taking turns with the workload.
What we learned
We learned about various different sensors.
What's next for Climate Sensory Project
Will return to this project on our time and finish it one day in the future.
