The Climate Ranger application is designed to increase public awareness and knowledge, especially TNGGP visitors, regarding the impact of climate change on the TNGGP ecosystem. This application combines modern technology with environmental education through various interactive and educational features. This application is equipped with several interesting features.
The first feature is interactive education about climate change in the form of videos, articles and animations about flora, fauna and so on.
The second feature is Impact Simulation with Augmented Reality (AR). When at a specific location within a national park, app users can point their smartphone camera at the surrounding area and see a visual simulation of how climate change could affect that environment. For example, users can see simulations of vegetation changes, threatened habitats, or wildlife migration in the area in the next few decades if temperatures continue to rise.
The third feature is an interactive minigame/quiz with the aim of enabling application users to protect the environment and understand issues related to climate change. For example, a game could be a challenge to reduce the carbon footprint during a visit or maintain the survival of a particular species by making environmentally friendly decisions.
The fourth feature is the Real Action Program: Climate Rangers. This feature encourages users to participate in real action. Users can take part in various environmental activities organized by national park managers, such as tree planting programs, cleaning up rubbish, or preserving wildlife habitats. They can also collect participation points that can be exchanged for symbolic awards, such as digital certificates or “Green Ranger” badges.
The fifth feature is the Ecosystem Education Map which displays important areas in national parks that are vulnerable to climate change. These maps not only show hiking trails or tourist locations, but also provide information about biodiversity, such as rare or endangered species, and how climate change may affect them. Users can also find out about conservation efforts being carried out in the area.
