Inspiration

Our inspiration was that we wanted to make a website for climate change as recently there has been a lot of news about how bad climate change is in the Bay Area. In the last couple of weeks, there were major heat waves that went through the Bay Area. We wanted to make a website to help the people who want to participate or volunteer in activities organized to prevent climate change by showing them various organizations they can participate in.

What does it do?

Our project is mainly a website that displays crucial information for the general populace. This information is displayed and conveyed in a variety of ways, some of which include pictures, various paragraphs of information, as well as some custom programmed informational displays.

How we built it

The main website that the information is displayed on was built using Wix.com. The information was researched ourselves, and we made some custom recordings of various scenes and mechanics that we built using C# in Unity.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into was the fact that we are all beginners, so the coding parts are hard to finish. We tried to make a 3d video of our topic, but we didn't succeed. If we knew how to code then we would have been able to get much more done during the time period and be able to finish the 3D model . One additional problem was that Unity has a bug that they themselves haven't resolved. This bug heavily blocked progress, as a result, we had to find a way to circumvent the bug and manually do things ourselves.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our biggest accomplishment would have to be that we were able to learn unity and get some coding done just in time before the competition was going to end. We were able to turn in something then rather than not turn in anything for our final project of the event.

What we learned

When working with a team, you can get to learn a lot of things about each other, even if you already knew that person really well, you can still learn something new about them. We as a team learned some coding skills and time management skills. With teamwork, you can produce amazing ideas at an extremely faster rate.
