Inspiration
One of the members of our team’s mom has a degree from UC Berkeley in environmental science and is very big on saving the environment. Our team member was talking to us about what she learned from her mom and it inspired us to create a website about the severity of climate change and the future impact it will have if we do not act soon!
What it does
By creating this website we hope to educate people specifically in our generation not only about climate change but about the major impact it is having on the world. Doing this will hopefully spread the word and encourage more people to take climate change seriously.
How I built it
HTML, style.css, script.js
Challenges I ran into
Some challenges we faced -working on the code- included interchanging the website between different sizes such as on phone or computer. Also much of the coding was trial and error.
What I learned
Raina - I learned more about the severity of climate change and about young activists who have made a difference in their communities. Charlotte - I found out there is a lot more diversity to each environmental organization than I expected. Every organization I read about had a different way of expressing their passion in the environmental movement. Katie - I learned more about coding through the zoom calls and searching on different websites and deciding how to implement them in. I also memorized a lot of different codes to better organize and create the website. Polina - I found out how severe the future impacts of climate change are going to be and how they affect not just the environment but indigenous people.
What's next for Climate Change - Website
If you are wondering how to get involved in the environmental movement the site has easily accessible donation links and several suggestions as to how you can live eco- friendly. For example don’t leave the water running when brushing your teeth or doing dishes, opt for purchasing minimally packaged food, compost your food scraps, etc... As we learn more, we hope to add clips of climate change documentaries to our website. We'd also like to format the website to properly work on a phone and smaller screens, not just on computer full screen. We'd also like to add a countdown clock such as the climate clock in New York.
