Inspiration

We were aware that climate change is a worsening problem, and we wanted to do something about this. So, we decided to design and build an informational application that could motivate users to act on this issue as well as show users what they are contributing to this growing issue.

What it does

It notifies you at a certain time in the morning and afternoon to take an action to lessen the effects of climate change, and it shows the users (based on user inputs, ex. how many miles they drove) their contribution to the problem. Also, it shows the air quality in their area by taking their air quality index.

How I built it

We used python, modules, algorithms, and conditional statements to build an app. We tested our app in the terminal, and kept on debugging it, till it worked fully in the terminal.

Challenges I ran into

We ran into several syntax errors, and we had to review slideshows and recall information that we learned from the previous day. As we learned python the day before, and tried applying it to our project.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of developing a fully functional application, using skills we learned from the learnathon to address a worsening issue that is declining the quality of life of people around the world.

What I learned

We learned python and the use of modules, in order to make our application function.

What's next for Climate Change Informational Application

We want to make it into a fully functional application that we can release to actually help lessen this problem. We also would like to expand on the consumption choices in order for users to fully understand their contribution to the problem.
