Climate-Aware Farming Advisor

Inspiration

With the rise in climate change, farmers are being negatively affected by flash floods one day and extreme weather temperatures the next day, causing farmers to have very poor yields during harvest times.

What it does

Using weather details (weekly or daily) to determine the best conditions and recommendations for the specified crop.

How we built it

After the initial build, I decided to construct the app with real-world information. Each widget was tested against data from an external API and different configurations to get the best response for the user.

Challenges we ran into

The app responded with a random amount of responses to the prompt; however, adding more widgets slowed down the system. To fix this, I used fewer widgets and a prompt to ensure the response is limited to no more than 5 responses.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I wanted a practical use-case to help farmers solve this problem using sustainable farming practices that will not only be profitable for farmers but also benefit the environment, and that is exactly what the app is doing, Finally the enter app was put together in 10min.

What we learned

I learned that there are very good use-cases with AI that can help save our planet.

What's next for Climate-Aware Farming Advisor

I will be sharing the app with local farmers in my area and, if possible, extend its features with more data from external APIs.
