Inspiration

We had a typing contest before when we had nothing to do and felt that it can be extended to orientation games. But to make it more portable and less logistics heavy, we decided to do a click contest application that can be used on mobile phones and of course on computers as well.

What it does

Users can enter their name and start whatever time limit they want. And they have to click as fast as they can before the timer runs out. Players can try and become the best clicker!

How we built it

The application is rapid prototyped with ReactJS as the front-end and Firebase as the back-end. We split the teams into a group of 3 and an individual. The group of 3 worked on the front-end which included design, images and of course the front-end code. The last person worked on setting up firebase, and writing typescript functions (or API calls) that enables the front-end.

Challenges we ran into

The remote setting for this year's hackathon made collaboration slightly harder, but we managed to overcome it with communication tools and platforms such as Telegram. Delegating work also made it easier for each teammate to focus on particular tasks and features, improving our productivity.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

We believe that the game is simple yet entertaining and is great for stress relief or as a fun orientation game. It has a lot of potential and we intend to work on it more in the future.

What I learned

  • How to make use of CSS styling effectively
  • More about Javascript

What's next for click-click-balloon

  • Highscores/Leaderboard
  • Multiplayer mode
  • Balloon deflates if left alone for too long!
  • User can choose the type and colour of balloon?
  • Ballon explodes if you're not careful!
