Inspiration

Climate crises and the social responsibility is a big challenge facing the world today, and we were inspired to build a webapp on the Lens Protocol that put individuals against each other in order to act more sustainably.

What it does

We looked at pre-existing apps built on in web3, such as Lenster, to attempt to create an app that challenged individuals to complete challenges and ranked profiles on a points based system based on environmental sustainability.

How we built it

We attempted to build it by examining the structures behind the pre-existing apps and recreating a lower-spec version that achieves our aims.

Challenges we ran into

Zero experience with web development :(, we had to learn everything from scratch and were unable to implement much at all. At some point we decided to implement parts separately, such as making the relations in graphQL and making the HTML page for the frontend. The Lens Protocol documentation was difficult to understand with little exerience, so a lot of time was spent learning new areas of code none of us had experience in.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our ability to stick at the problem in the face of difficulty is something we're all proud of, even if it didnt work out in the end.

What we learned

Over the course of the project all of us have learned an incredible amount about web3 developement, GraphQL as well as MERN code, html and css styling. Although the amount we learnt would not be enough to achieve the goals we first originally set, the amount we learnt over the 24 hours is admiral regardless.

What's next for CLENS

To start, getting a functioning webapp would be fantastic, but beyond our original goals - adding a function for companies to be added to the database, to allow them to sponsor profiles and posts, in a similar way to how collects work on some of the other apps, companies would be able to 'donate' to mint a users post, to increase their environmental responsibilty.
