Inspiration
This project was inspired by the team missing out on the Turkey and Ham subs from Jimmy John. The idea then hit, "How many students on campus miss out on getting food between classes because of the wait times?" The idea for Grub Time was born.
What it does
Grub Time is a web-based application that gives students wait times of restaurants on campus.
How we built it
Grub Time was built in JavaScript with HTML/CSS. It uses google-maps to use users location to find restaurants on campus and deliver wait times. Snap Kit was also used to help users personalize their experience.
Challenges we ran into
Coming up with ideas for the project in general. Lost a teammate. Using Google API. Redirect URL not being accepted by Snap Kit.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to put together this project in less than 24 hours.
What we learned
How to use Google API, Amazon Alexa skills. Snap Kit
What's next for Clemson University Grub Time
Use of geolocation to collect self-reporting data of students who are currently in line for restaurants on campus. Use of machine learning technology to analyze data of restaurants and time users search restaurant wait times to send push notifications of wait times.
