A few months ago, a friend of ours — a freelance designer — delivered a project she'd spent a week polishing. She'd used AI to draft a few early layout ideas, then completely reworked everything by hand: the color theory, the client's brand voice, every pixel-level decision was hers. The client ran it through an AI-detection tool anyway, saw a flag, and refused to pay. No conversation. No chance to explain her process. Just an assumption, and a lost paycheck.
That story stuck with us. Because it wasn't really about AI — it was about trust breaking down in a world where nobody has a fair way to prove what they actually did. Freelancers everywhere are being judged by tools that can't tell the difference between "AI wrote this" and "AI helped me start, and I finished it." And clients, on the other side, genuinely don't know who to believe either.
We didn't want to build another detector that guesses and accuses. We wanted to build the opposite — a record freelancers own, that proves their real process, on their terms. Not surveillance. Not a lie detector. A passport: something you carry, something you control, something that speaks for you before anyone has to doubt you.
