Inspiration

Our team is driven by a shared reality; three of us are fluent Spanish speakers. Outside of this hackathon two of us dedicate our time to creating and translating technical tutorials to help the Spanish-speaking community navigate complex software. Through our work and experiences we have all witnessed a massive language gap. When a non-native speaker sits down to sign a mortgage, loan, or other important document, they aren't just facing tough and big words. They are facing a barrier. We built Clarifai to ensure that everyone, regardless of their native language, can understand the contracts that define their opportunities and overall lives.

What it does

Clarifai is a proactive AI agent that decodes complex life events. Unlike a passive chatbot where the user must know what to ask, Clarifai takes the lead.

Voice Guidance

There is an AI agent that walks users through documents, explaining out load, and will answer questions regarding the document. Users can choose and set the language for the AI agent.

Risk Detection

A feature that automatically flags predatory interest rates, hidden fees, or unusual clauses.

Multilingual Support

Provides high-quality, simplified summaries in any language options we have.

How we built it

The Foundation

Built on Base44 for rapid UI development and document processing.

The Voice

Integrated ElevenLabs to create natural sounding AI agents that listens and speaks, making the experience feel more human rather than clinical.

The Brain

Utilized LLMs with custom prompting to move beyond summary into proactive guidance, allowing the agent to ask the user questions.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest internal debate was Scope vs Depth. Several team members initially felt the project was too broad and that we should focus exclusively on one document type to ensure 100% accuracy. However, we realized the underlying language of complexity is the same across many sectors. We solved this by putting certain prompts into Base44 to ensure information is 100% accurate.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The Bilingual Bridge

Seeing the AI take a dense, multi page English mortgage and explain the core risks in clear, conversational Spanish, was awesome! It really was the lightbulb moment of this project, as we could already see what impact this project is going to have on the community.

Human-Centric Design

We built an interface that feels like a professional fintech product instead of a simple chat box. Our website is clean, calm, and approachable for people in high stress situations.

What we learned

We learned that AI isn't just used for generating text, but to ease anxiety. By using voice and proactive questioning, we realized we could transform a document from a scary barrier into a calm guided conversation. We also learned that building for minorities (like immigrants or first generation students) actually creates a better product for everyone!

What's next for Clarifai

The Financial Shield

We want to expand into a recurring model where users return to Clarifai for every major life contract: rental leases, employment agreements, and insurance claims.

Negotiation Coach

Implementing a feature that helps users take the flags we find and turn them into a script they can use to negotiate better terms with their lenders.

Daily Utility

Exploring everyday complexity, such as explaining medical lab results or breaking down confusing ingredients on food and body care labels for health conscious consumers.
