ClearSend is an AI agent for cross-border remittance and travel: transparent FX and fees, escrow with payer / recipient / verifier roles, live flight search, and PayPal sandbox payments in one calm flow.
Inspiration
Cross-border payments and trip booking are usually opaque and brittle. ClearSend makes fees visible, keeps AI away from releasing money, and ties escrow or a flight to a real PayPal capture.
What it does
- Escrow: open with a written or uploaded spec (AI extracts deliverables), fund with PayPal sandbox, recipient submits work, AI verifies criteria, payer releases or refunds with a typed confirmation.
- Flights: Kernel cloud browser reads live Google Flights fares; PayPal pays; Duffel test mode books; auto-refund if booking fails.
- Surfaces: web UI, Telegram group escrow (@Moiffe_bot), agent chat, MCP tools.
- Privacy: per-visitor history via cookie; no public shared ledger.
How we built it
Next.js 15 + Vercel AI SDK agent. PayPal Orders, Payouts, refunds, verified webhooks, and the PayPal Agent Toolkit (approval-gated). Free models via NVIDIA NIM / OpenRouter for chat, spec extraction, and deliverable checks. Kernel + Playwright for live fares; Duffel test bookings; Upstash Redis for escrow state.
Challenges
Sandbox payouts need US Personal recipient accounts (country blocks). Duffel test fares differ from Google prices, so the UI labels both. Kernel search is slower than an API, so the product is honest about timing and provider errors.
Accomplishments
Live E2E on sandbox: fund → submit → verify → release (payout SUCCESS), refund, denied-payout retry. Flight E2E: Kernel fares → PayPal pay → Duffel test booking + auto-refund on failure.
What we learned
Human approval gates beat letting the model move money. Labeling test vs live prices builds judge trust. Fee model: payer pays the escrow amount; 2.5% comes out of the payout.
What's next
Broader recipient countries when payouts allow, stronger Telegram group UX, and a short public demo video with voiceover.
