Inspiration

ClearRead was inspired by the challenges people with dyslexia, deafness, and low vision face when accessing digital information. I wanted to explore how technology could help reduce these barriers and create a more inclusive digital experience where people with different abilities can access information more easily.

What it does

ClearRead is an accessibility-focused web application designed to make digital information easier to access and understand. It aims to support people with different accessibility needs through tools that help make interacting with digital content more inclusive .

How we built it

ClearRead was developed using AI-assisted development tools, including Google Gemini and Claude, to help turn the idea into a working application. GitHub was used to store and manage the project code, while Vercel was used to deploy the application online. The project combines web development with an accessibility-first approach, with the goal of making digital information more inclusive and accessible to a wider range of users.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was turning the idea of an inclusive reading experience into a functional web application within a limited time. We also faced challenges with development tools, deployment, and making the application accessible online. Using AI-assisted development tools helped us work through these obstacles and bring ClearRead to life.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have turned an idea focused on accessibility and inclusion into a working web application. ClearRead represents our effort to address the digital barriers faced by people with dyslexia, deafness, and low vision. We're also proud to have deployed the application online, making it accessible for people to explore.

What we learned

Building ClearRead taught us the importance of considering accessibility from the beginning of the development process. We learned how AI tools such as Google Gemini and Claude can support software development, accelerate problem-solving, and help transform ideas into working products. We also gained practical experience with GitHub, deployment, and the challenges of building an application under time constraints.

What's next for ClearRead

Our next steps are to improve ClearRead's existing features, test the application with people who have different accessibility needs, and gather feedback to guide future improvements. We also hope to expand its accessibility capabilities, improve usability across devices, and continue developing ClearRead into a more reliable and inclusive tool for accessing digital information.
