Inspiration

We were inspired to create an accessible and functional dashboard for an industry which is notoriously dangerous. Above all, we prioritized our users, what functions they need, and how they will interact with them.

What it does

Provides an interactive overview of the most important needs in the day of a nuclear engineer. Everything from detecting radiation levels, project management, and equipment care.

How we built it

First, we conducted a lot of research. This includes looking into our targeting audience, examples of what we need in our final product, and information about the nuclear industry itself. We then used that research to determine our frames in Figma. We could use the information we gathered to prioritize what we wanted to show on our design. After creating the low-fidelity wireframe, we added in all the details which made the user interface functional and easy to navigate.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was the research. The nuclear field is very niche, and trying to find how to serve the specific needs of our audience was difficult. Luckily, we were able to interview Kayla C., a nuclear technician from Bruce Power, who gave us insight as to what they would look for in a dashboard such as this. Using that feedback, we were able to build a website which we felt covered many different needs. Another challenge we faced was meeting each other for the first time and working together. We had to learn how each other worked and adapt to different styles of design, forms of feedback, and methods of communication.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While we all had some experience in Figma, this was the first time any of us had done something this detailed. We were all really proud of how seamlessly it came together, facing minor road bumps on the way. We always kept up morale and supported each other and remained positive, no matter how tired we were.

What we learned

The nuclear industry is very complex. But other than that, we learned different tools in Figma, such as the styles and flows, which we would not have known without the amazing workshops we attended!

What's next for Clearly Nu - Nuclear Dashboard

Take the feedback we receive and use it to make our future projects as great as possible!
