Inspiration

Most people spend their time doing things they do not have the time and skill for. Be it grocery shopping, travelling just to pay a bill or trying to find someone to fetch a parcel for us because we live in a remote area. So we thought about creating a two sided platform that connects people who need help with tasks, with those who are skilled, unemployed or underemployed.

What it does

Task Runner connects Taskers and Runners, where Taskers select the errands they want to outsource like grocery shopping, pay a bill or Fetch a parcel. Runners than see tasks that are available on the platform based on their location and hourly rating. When complete they send and request to the Tasker using the Ayoba App from our microapp and when don they get paid.

How we built it

We started by collecting data from food items stores through our api. We than started exposing api endpoints using django that we would use to implement our logic in the microapp. We than collaborated as a team to implement the flow of the platform from creating a task, accepting it and confirming that it is complete in conjunction with the Ayoba Apis.

Challenges we ran into

While having to consume the Ayoba APIs in our microapp we discovered that it would be hard to test locally without having to always redeploy every minor change. So we created a wrapper service that produces test data when running on development. We further ran into merge conflicts which lead to rewriting some lost work while merging our work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Firstly we are proud as a team to have successfully worked together and build the app to the level it is in right now, in-addition to creating a wrapper, we shared it with other teams who where struggling to implement the Ayoba APIs to boost the collaborative spirit in the hackathon

What we learned

We have learnt how to deploy applications as opposed to the traditional approach of app stops to reach a wider audience, we have learn out to collaborate together and helping one teammate out when he/she is unable to complete the task at hand but overall we have learnt to be patient with each other even though it may seem like we wont meet the deadline

What's next for ClearHouse Task Runner

Our road map from now has to try this idea out at a larger scale, gain traction and validate our assumptions.
