Inspiration
Our overarching goal was to help make electronics repair understandable and easily accessible for everyone, not just professionals or hobbyists.
What it does
The bare bones python application runs a quick diagnostic test to identify why your phone could be experiencing issues. Currently it is limited to screen, battery or cover replacement, but this could easily be amended further. Once the issue is identified, the user can choose whether to go to the parts buying page or the part replacement guide, which describes the steps needed to fix their phone. For now, since we are not affiliated with a specific company, we used the Fairphone website as a placeholder for the part buying pages, and the replacement guides are pulled from the open-source instructions found on IFixIt.
What's next for ClearFix
- We could use AI for better diagnostic insights, including solutions to software problems.
- Offer upgraded components and guides to install these in your phone, revolutionising the smartphone market with an approach similar to PC’s.
- Expand into other technology such as tablets, PC’s, washing machines etc
- Expand into non-technology based diagnostics and problem solving such as in cars
- General expansion as more companies introduce modular design and desire user assistance and quality installation guidance.
