Initial inspiration came from the fact that there was a shortage of masks available to the general public and to essential workers. We saw the problem standard masks had by not allowing for facial expressions to be shown and not providing a good fit for every user.
What it does
We created the ClearFit Mask out of a clear PETG plastic so that lip movement and expressions can be seen and so that there is a customized fit to each users face.
How we built it
We designed the mask in CAD and 3D printed the prototype.
Challenges we ran into
During the process of creating the prototype, it was a challenge not being able to see the prototype come to life when campus labs were closed and there was a scarcity for 3D printers. Towards the end of the event, there were technical issues due to internet loss and modems burning out, but we were able to push through.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learned to communicate more effectively and make do with what we had in our homes to convey designs ideas.
What we learned
We learned that communication is very important when it comes to getting an end result with a due date.
What's next for ClearFit Mask
The future for ClearFit Mask is to bring the masks to mass production so that people may actually benefit from it and so that we may have a healthier and safer society.
