Inspiration

A lot of our family members struggle with managing their medications. One of our teamates family members struggled with pancrease issues, and were given topical acne medication that worsned their health. No doctor warned them about this. While companies provide breif summaries about side effeects on labels, they hide the rest of that info on their websites, and use overcomplicated vocabulary that does not inform the user of real side effects. We built ClearDose to combat this exact issue.

What it does

Our website, ClearDose, lets user scan medicine labels and return personalized suggestions back in an easy to understand way. We take personal information such as age, weight, allergies and other conditions into account when we suggest expiry dates, storage conditions, warnings and other recommendations. ClearDose stores data locally which takes away the risk of leaking personal data.

How we built it

We built Cleardose using assistance from ai and integrated Claude API to help power the website. Claude API scans medicine labels and scrapes the internet to provide the user with suggestions. The website is built on HTML.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges integrating an ai backing to our code. There was a lot of debugging and fixing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of making a functioning website that is able to solve our problem in a 2 day period.

What we learned

We learned that there are a lot of difficulties with working as a team since everyone has their own thoughts and oppinions. We also got more experince with integrating ai APIs into websites and code.

What's next for ClearDose

We plan on collaborating with pharmacies and clinics to spread the word of our product. We also want to build a localized medicine database to keep up to date with the latest drugs and update ClearDose. We also want to add a function that can detects overlapping medication prescriptions that could cause unintended affects.
