What inspired you

Everyone, including the members in our group, have experienced the difficulties of driving in night through the glare from oncoming vehicles. With already unsafe effects, this risk is worsened for people with astigmatism. Clear Vision is an approach to serve the community with clearer vision.

What it does

Clear Vision uses a hardware that detects the glare from the oncoming cars. Adjusting with the higher intensity of the light, the program tints the windshield of the car and leverages the use of head-up display to ensure safer driving.

How we built this

The initial step was to create a circuit, using Tinker Cad, to represent the hardware that will be detecting the glare intensity. Additionally, the backend coding of Clear Vision was carried through Java. In the end to represent the prototype, a real-life demonstration and an online simulator were used.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we attempted to code the simulation online. However, due to technological limitations and resources, we created a real-life demonstration. The online simulator was sourced from GitHub in which we made modifications highlighted by our comments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working through multiple challenges and creating the real-life demonstration and the simulator is an accomplishment that we are proud of. In the end, we are pleased that these products effectively represented the vision we have for Clear Vision.

What we learned

One of the essential ideas we comprehended was how to ensure that the project aligns with Toyota's core values along with serving business benefits. There were multiple technical understandings we gained through working on a new platform such as Tinker cad. Moreover, we received an enhanced insight on HTML and CSS used in the online simulator. Overall, we diligently practiced effective collaboration and time management.

What's next for Clear Vision

Alike glare at night, there are other conditions that cause hindrance in driving vision which reduces customer safety. Clear Vision can evolve further to address scenarios in which the vision is comparatively worsened such as under rainy, foggy, and snowy conditions.
