About the Project

A single pair of hands can change a life. That belief inspired Clear Path, a mobile app that digitizes patient intake and medical review at Kenyan eye camps. Today, these camps rely on two handwritten forms per patient: pre-screening and screening. Doctors must flip through dozens of papers while urgently trying to identify who needs immediate care. Important comorbidities such as diabetes or HIV risk going unnoticed.

This project asks a simple question:

“What if we could turn paper into structured medical insight in seconds?”

Clear Path uses a phone camera to scan the forms, and then guides a healthcare worker to verify accuracy. Clinicians can then view a clean, prioritized summary of each patient’s conditions so they can focus attention where it matters most.

We have been involved with global health initiatives that combat preventable blindness. During outreach events, we noticed: Paper gets lost, damaged, and misread Clinical bottlenecks form when doctors need to re-read every form Patient history from previous camps is practically inaccessible I wanted to create a tool that gives clinicians a clearer path to helping more patients in less time.
