ClearCommit: Turning Conversations Into Collective Growth
💡 Inspiration
Conversations shape how we work. We negotiate with clients, resolve disagreements, make decisions, and promise to follow up. But when a conversation ends, important details get lost—and opportunities to learn from the experience disappear with them.
Most AI meeting tools focus on summarizing what happened. I wanted to explore a different question:
What if AI could help us communicate better, keep our commitments, and turn individual lessons into collective knowledge?
That idea became ClearCommit: a communication coaching and team-learning platform designed to help people improve their conversations without sacrificing their privacy.
🚀 What I Built
ClearCommit connects three parts of the communication process:
- Communication coaching: Identify opportunities to communicate more clearly, adapt your tone, and handle difficult conversations more effectively.
- Commitment intelligence: Organize decisions, follow-ups, and potential action items so important details don't disappear after a conversation.
- Team learning: Turn selected, reviewed insights into reusable knowledge that helps colleagues learn from shared experiences.
The current team-learning workflow starts with imported transcripts, allowing users to explore insights without requiring automatic capture of live meetings.
The broader vision connects personal coaching with shared organizational knowledge. Crucially, using ClearCommit at work should not automatically give an employer unrestricted access to someone's private conversations.
🛠️ How I Built It
I approached ClearCommit as a complete product rather than a single AI feature.
The design separates the user experience, AI-assisted analysis, persistent records, authentication, and organizational permissions. This creates a foundation for connecting personal communication tools with a shared team workspace without tightly coupling every component.
Under a limited deadline, I prioritized the core journey: conversation → insight → reviewed knowledge → team learning.
I used structured planning, requirements, and development instructions to break the broader vision into manageable implementation goals. This helped me focus on the essential experience instead of attempting to finish every feature at once.
🧠 What I Learned
My biggest takeaway was that generating useful AI output is only one part of building a useful AI product.
People need to understand where insights come from, distinguish suggestions from confirmed decisions, and trust how their information is handled. Teams also need a deliberate process for deciding what becomes shared knowledge.
I learned to treat privacy, permissions, persistence, and verification as product requirements—not features to add later.
I also learned to be honest about the difference between what works today and what remains a goal. ClearCommit's team-learning workflow currently uses imported transcripts; automatic meeting capture and transcription for that workflow remain future work.
⚡ Challenges
The hardest part was managing scope. ClearCommit spans desktop software, AI analysis, persistent data, authentication, collaboration, and privacy-aware sharing. Building a coherent experience across these areas is much harder than demonstrating an isolated AI feature.
I had to decide what mattered most, which capabilities could wait, and how to make the product useful without overstating its readiness.
The other challenge was balancing individual and organizational value. Employees need control over their personal conversations, while teams need a practical way to learn from collective experience.
My approach is to make sharing intentional: personal insights should become organizational knowledge through selection and review, rather than automatically exposing every conversation.
🔭 What's Next
My next priorities are to strengthen the end-to-end deployment and permission model, improve the process for turning approved insights into shared playbook entries, and integrate automatic audio capture and transcription into the team-learning workflow.
Long term, I want ClearCommit to help organizations build a culture where people don't just communicate, but continuously learn how to communicate better.
The goal is simple: better conversations, clearer commitments, and lessons that benefit more than just the person who learned them.
🙌 How the Learn Skill Pack Helped
The Devpost Learn Skill Pack helped me approach development more systematically. Rather than jumping straight from an idea into implementation, I used structured planning and requirements to clarify the problem, organize the work, and guide AI-assisted development through a more deliberate process.
The emphasis on flipped interaction encouraged me to treat AI as a collaborator guided by context and direction, rather than relying on a single broad prompt to produce an entire product.
That structure was especially valuable under a tight deadline. It helped me prioritize the core workflow, make more deliberate scope decisions, and think about how the individual components fit together into a usable experience.
The most valuable lesson was that AI can help you build faster, but clear planning helps you decide what is worth building.
