Inspiration

The specific inspiration for the game's storyline and mechanics comes from the alarming global concern regarding plastic pollution and environmental degradation. By depicting a once-thriving community facing a dire situation due to industrialization and rampant plastic production, the game aims to mirror real-world challenges many communities face.

The incorporation of African culture into the levels and themes serves a twofold purpose. Firstly, it adds a unique and diverse element to the game, showcasing the beauty of African cultures, costumes, music, and flags. Secondly, it serves as a platform to highlight that environmental issues are global, affecting communities worldwide. By using different African countries as settings for the game's levels, the developers aim to connect players to the broader impact of pollution on a global scale.

The inclusion of eco-friendly tools, dynamic environment transformations, and real-world integrations, such as educational resources and donation mechanisms, reflects a commitment to fostering positive real-world actions and contributions towards environmental conservation. What it does

CleanScape is a unique gaming experience that combines entertainment with environmental education and action. Players take on the role of environmental activists in a virtual world where they must combat pollution and restore the health of a once-thriving community. Using eco-friendly tools, dynamic weather conditions, and collaborative multiplayer features, players embark on a journey to clean up various African landscapes, tackling challenges and unlocking new areas as they progress. The game not only entertains but also inspires real-world actions, promoting awareness of environmental issues and encouraging positive contributions towards conservation efforts.

Challenges we ran into

We joined the challenge late, so it was hard navigating everything at the last minute. We could not get a designer to work with the team, so we had to share the tasks within ourselves as well as watch youtube video

Accomplishments that we're proud of

During the course of this project, we interacted and learnt about an open source tool we have never used before: Tiles.

What we learned

We learnt how to navigate google wallet seamlessly We looked into data about plastic waste in Nigeria and learnt a lot from it.

What's next for CleanScape

We would love to implement what is in our thoughts due to the time limits and joining late, we can't fully implement what's in our minds but we believe we can do it if we get the chance to continue working on this project.
