Inspiration

I was going through a rough patch recently—struggling with productivity, missing deadlines, and not completing what I set out to do. It left me feeling stuck and disappointed in myself.

Before the official announcement of this hackathon, I happened to come across a casual Twitter thread from the Bolt founder. That small moment sparked something in me. I saw this as a chance to redeem myself—an opportunity to make up for those personal setbacks.

What it does

CleanPDF is a minimal, no-fuss PDF tool that helps users quickly clean, process, and optimize PDFs without complex setups or privacy concerns. It’s built to be functional, fast, and user-friendly—perfect for anyone who just wants to get their task done without hassle.

How we built it

I started with a completely different idea—a powerful and complex Shopify app with features like dynamic pricing, data feeds, and competitor analysis. But as I ran into multiple bugs and blocker issues—even just 3 hours before the deadline—I made a hard decision to pivot.

CleanPDF was built with simplicity and clarity in mind. I stripped away everything unnecessary and focused on a small, functional tool I could complete and submit proudly.

Challenges we ran into

There were constant blockers—from technical bugs to mental fatigue. I was close to giving up multiple times. The pressure of trying to build something overly complex in a tight timeframe almost burned me out. At one point, I was debugging issues at 5:30 AM—with only a few hours left before my office job at 10 AM.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite all odds, I didn’t quit. I pivoted, simplified, and made something that actually works. Submitting a functional product—no matter how minimal—feels like a win I truly needed right now.

What we learned

Simplicity wins—especially under time pressure.

It's better to build something small and complete than something ambitious and broken.

Mental resilience matters as much as technical skills.

Sometimes, showing up is more important than winning.

What's next for CleanPDF

I plan to improve CleanPDF with features like batch processing, text redaction, and offline support. But more importantly, I want to continue this journey of shipping over perfection—and keep building tools that help real people solve real problems.
