Inspiration

The inspiration behind CleanAir stems from the urgent need to address the harmful practice of open waste burning, which significantly contributes to air pollution, public health crises, and climate change. Recognizing the severe impact of this practice on vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly, the team was motivated to create a solution that empowers communities to take action against this environmental threat.

What it does

CleanAir is a community-driven mobile app idea designed to combat open waste burning by enabling users to report incidents in real-time, access waste collection schedules, and engage in educational activities. The app features a reporting tool, community forums, educational content, and gamification elements to encourage active participation. Users can also call emergency services to intervene in ongoing waste-burning incidents, thereby reducing air pollution and fostering a healthier environment.

How we built it

CleanAir was developed using a user-centered design approach, focusing on creating an intuitive and accessible interface. The development process involved creating diagrams of the app's geolocation services, real-time reporting capabilities, and educational resources. The team collaborated with environmental experts to ensure the accuracy of the data presented and the effectiveness of the app’s features in reducing open waste burning.

The ultimate goal is to create a global movement that significantly reduces open waste burning and its associated health and environmental risks. I'll even make sure to develop the web/mobile app!
