Inspiration
Some of us notice the large amount of trash on our commute to school (especially downtown and chinook) and wanted a way to help organize events to clean up the community.
What it does
The website takes in data on the dirtiness of Calgary neighbourhoods from registered users. When the dirtiness of a neighbourhood obtains a certain amount of "Dirty Scale" ratings, an event to clean up that neighbourhood will be created automatically with users able to join the event, it will then be displayed
How we built it
We used React as a frontend framework, with Lambda functions and DynamoDB in the backend.
Challenges we ran into
Feature creep
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're happy with the effort that was put into the project and how much we got done in a 24hr period.
What we learned
How to implement maps in a react app, how to connect DynamoDB to AWS, how to work as a team during a time crunch, the importance of properly organized code.
What's next for Clean-to-Green
Expanding to different municipalities globally
