Since this was our first time competing in a hackathon, the team agreed to look at this as a learning opportunity and focus on things we're passionate about: design and skincare! We built our website to highlight a visually appealing skincare brand using design elements that reflect our team. The overall color scheme was soft pastels tones that created a warm welcoming environment for potential users. We also added unique shapes in the background of the site to add interest without being overwhelming. Users can browse a total of 8 skincare products, as well as a new makeup kit we intend to sell in the future. Additionally, they can sign up for email notifications to stay up to date with the brand and receive special promotions.
Through quite a bit of trial and error, we were able to build the site using HTML, CSS, and the help of incredible mentors and peers. As beginner coders, our team struggled to conform to syntax rules, navigate errors in both our code and github, and pace ourselves to meet the established deadline. Despite the difficulties we faced, the team worked well together and maintained a tenacious mindset to create a final product we're extremely proud of.
So, what's next for us? We hope to expand the website to add even more interactive features, dynamic graphics, and aesthetically pleasing text. Our main goal is to have a learning mindset to improve our craft and exceed expectations.
