Inspiration

A possible future where id's and payments can be secure through the blockchain, helping citizens live more seamless lives

What it does

This project establishes a private Ethereum network that allows a government authority to securely manage and verify citizen identities using cryptographic hashes. By storing these "digital fingerprints" on a Hyperledger Besu blockchain, the system enables third parties to confirm a user's credentials without exposing their sensitive personal data.

How we built it

After we got the idea, we started mapping out how we would structure the blockchain. After that we started researching started to build with the help of Claude. Through that we were able to get a basic back end then fine-tune some parts to make it what we wanted.

Challenges we ran into

At the beginning we didn't really have a clue what we wanted to build. We tried to push ourselves into new fields of computer science so we could really learn.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We got a working version of civic-chain by mid Saturday. We were able to successfully create a block chain when we had little previous knowledge on the topic
