Inspiration
Professors often remain unaware of student engagement levels, leading to missed opportunities for connection and support, which can negatively impact the overall learning experience.
What it does
XP Lab boosts student motivation by offering a gamified learning experience through participation, challenges, and rewards. It also provides professors with real-time insights into student engagement, allowing them to adjust their teaching strategies on the fly.
How we built it
We built XP Lab using a React frontend and a Python backend with FastAPI, along with the OpenAI API to power intelligent features and analytics.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges in designing the overall system architecture, improving the accuracy of AI-generated speech metrics, and navigating transitions between different frontend pages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of implementing a Real-Time AI Assistant that gives instant insights into student engagement, as well as detailed post-lecture analytics that help assess performance and highlight areas for improvement.
What we learned
We learned how to work with new frameworks and how to turn our ideas into an interactive, engaging system that enhances students’ learning experiences.
What's next for XP Lab
Next, we plan to enable XP Lab to break down recorded lectures, giving students a more engaging alternative to traditional review sessions and helping them stay motivated while studying. Education Track
