Meeting new people can be a difficult task in University, especially now that we are all taking classes from home reducing the chance of meeting new people and making new friends. This is why we created this application so that students can interact with their classmates as they would in person if not more. With randomized voice calls after every lecture to strengthen your understanding together and get to know the people in your class, to class forums to discuss questions, this app makes your room at home feel less lonely during these hard times.

What it does

Creates a dedicated space for your classmates to ask each other questions and to get to know each other better. We implemented a forum style page for students to ask questions and tried implementing an audio call feature which we were not able to implement.

How we built it

We built the front-end in ReactJS and the back-end using Firebase's Firestore, a real-time database.

Challenges we ran into

We had come up with another idea prior to the start of the hackathon and prepared for it, however, the idea did not match any of the topics released at the beginning of the hackathon, which forced us to start over from scratch. Thus we spent a lot of time at the beginning of the hackathon thinking of a new idea.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to complete the basic functionality we had set out to complete. All of us had tried working on something new during this hackathon, and have thus each picked up a new skill.

What we learned

Other than all the technical things we learned through this project, we also learned to have a couple of backup ideas in case our main one does not work out.

What's next for Classmates

Since we were not able to add the audio call functionality we would love to implement this next as we think this will bring Classmates closer together while far apart.
