Study.mate
We surveyed some number of UWaterloo students about how they spent their weekends, and 9 out of 10 of them responded with studying. That’s why we created Study.mate: an App that helps UWaterloo Students to find study buddies for their courses while encouraging participation in our community and students to work together.
What it does
By running the App, students will be prompted to create an account with their UWaterloo email and then enter their courses. Students then may use the App to find study buddies by selecting the course they wish to find buddies for, a study date, and maximum party size. The App will find parties that match his or her result.
How we built it
We used React-Native to build native android/ios apps and used Express/Redis to build the back-end server.
Challenges we ran into
- Four of the five members are first-time hackers so we didn't have much experience with group projects.
- Nobody knew how to use React-Native before the hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The product turned out to have a pretty design. We were able to accomplish a great number of features and provided a scalable server.
What we learned
Front-end development, React, React-Native.
