Inspiration

We saw the theme was detective / mystery and it reminded us of one of our favorite TV shows, Criminal Minds.

What it does

It's a mystery game that takes you through 3 different (fictional) cases (with the exception being Level 3, Bonnie and Clyde were real) that you have to solve. The goal is to catch the Unsub (unknown subject).

How we built it

We used Code.org's AppLab to build our program.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into was the amount of workload and time we had. We both had a lot of work to do and not much time. I had some difficulty keeping my workspace on Code.org clean and organized, and Daisy had a lot of complicated graphics to create. We also only had 24 hours (which included time to sleep). I also had an issue with an if statement and buttons not working.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have finished the project, and the amazing graphics. I'm also proud to have overcome the if statement without using the if statement. I replaced it with an "onEvent" statement.

What we learned

We learned that we should manage our time better. Maybe instead of watching that group build that giant tower that is still up at this moment, we should've been working. But we also know that we need to take breaks or we'll get burnt out. We also need to invest some time working on a project outside of the location that it was given, or should be submitted. Doing that helped a lot, with taking the video, completing this form, and that brings us to the final thing. Having teammates helps a lot. I never would've finished this project without Daisy here to help, and Daisy would never have done it without me either, and we need each other to encourage each other as well. Or we might just spend too much time trying to perfect a specific drawing or piece of code without an outside perspective there to tell us it's perfect.

What's next for Classified - A Parody of Criminal Minds

If possible, we would like to add more "clutter" to the "find the evidence" scenes. It would be fun if it wasn't super obvious what the pieces of evidence were and if it was harder to find. For example, we could put some plants and wildlife in the forest scene, some homework, a bag, maybe a clock in the bedroom scene, some trashcans and discarded newspaper in the alleyway scene. I would also like to make it so if you finished level 3 then finished level 1 again, level 3 isn't locked. That's a bug I'm aware of and wish I could fix with the time we have. It would also be fun to add more levels and characters.
